How Saelyx knows what it can do

What Saelyx knows about itself it reads from texts that are maintained alongside each feature. This page explains which texts they are, when it consults them, and what it does when something does not exist on the device you are using.

Note

The apps and the web account are still partly in Spanish. This page names menus and buttons in English; if you see the Spanish original, it is the same one.

Which texts make up its self-knowledge

Layer What it contains When it uses it
Identity What it is (the agent that sees, listens and acts with you in real time), what the app is called on each device, and its honesty rule In the conversation
Capabilities summary What it can do on the device it runs on, with its limits. Each device has its own; the Apple Watch one is the shortest When you ask “what can you do?”, “can you…?” or “how do I set up…?”
Per-device capability notes Confirmations, mail, Odoo, Jira, Office, saved meetings, notes, study mode and other features, with their nuances. The voice carries them from the start of the session During the voice session
Detailed catalogue Tool by tool, what each device has. It is the reference that automated tests check; it is not handed over whole in the conversation When maintaining the other texts
Your personal profile A “Who I am” document with your identity, the people around you, your preferences and your context, which Saelyx distils from what it remembers about you To answer “the way it knows you”
Your memory and knowledge What it remembers between sessions and the documents you upload. You see, edit and delete them When searching them, and before answering from memory

Note

The stable stuff (science, history, code, general culture) it answers from its own knowledge. It searches the web only for what has to be current, what it cannot know, or what you ask it to look up.

Your personal profile

It lives on the web, under Account → Knowledge. You can edit it by hand, empty it, see its history (up to the last 10 versions are kept) and click “Regenerate” so Saelyx distils it again from your memories.

  • “Save” on an edit of yours freezes it against automatic updates.
  • If you empty it yourself, Saelyx will not rebuild it on its own until you click “Regenerate” or write it.

More about what it remembers in Memory, knowledge and notes.

How it stays up to date

  • The tools of each device are described in the texts for that device, and automated tests check that every tool on every platform is described in the detailed catalogue.
  • Part of the texts travels with the app, so it arrives with the update: on the Mac, when you accept the new-version prompt; on iPhone and iPad, through the App Store. The other part lives in the service and updates without you doing anything. More in Install and update.
  • To hear the full tour, open Settings → General → Tutorial and use the «Que Saelyx me cuente qué sabe hacer» button (“Have Saelyx tell me what it can do”): it explains by voice what it can do on your Mac and points at each thing on screen. You can interrupt it or skip it.

What it can answer to “what can you do?”

Ask it by voice or in chat. It answers according to the device you are on:

  • On the Mac, it includes control of your apps, the terminal and the editor.
  • On the iPhone and iPad, it does not include control of Mac apps, which is Mac-only. From the iPhone and iPad you can use Remote (Devices).
  • On the Apple Watch, only the essentials, in one or two sentences, and it offers the detail on your phone.

It can also tell you where a setting is or which permission is needed. If something “can't”, it is usually signing in or checking your plan (Account and plans).

Honest limits

  • What it cannot do on a device, it says so. Its rule is to state honestly what it cannot do here and never to pretend an action or a feature that does not exist. If you doubt an answer, check this documentation or the features page.
  • It is an AI and can be wrong. Check anything that matters before you decide.
  • Roles guide. The specialist roles (Doctor, Lawyer, Financial advisor…) guide; they do not replace a professional.
  • What it knows about you is what you have left it. If something is missing, add or correct it in your memory or your profile.

Note

With Microsoft 365, saving the minutes to OneDrive or SharePoint, sending them by Outlook and posting them to Teams is done from the screen, not by voice: there is no voice tool for it. How, in Microsoft 365.
