Mac permissions
They're asked for one at a time: the three main ones in the welcome, the rest when needed.
This is the list of what macOS may ask for, and why. None is granted all at once, and you can withdraw any of them in System Settings.
-
Microphone
To hear you when you talk, dictate or are in a meeting.
-
Speech Recognition
To dictate and transcribe what you say.
-
Accessibility
For the 🌐 key, to type wherever your cursor is and to handle apps such as Teams.
-
Screen and system audio recording
To see your screen (Pro) and, in a meeting, to hear the other participants.
-
Camera
Optional: it only turns on when you switch it on (Pro).
-
Calendars
Read-only, to tell you which meetings you have. It doesn't create or change events.
-
Automation
To handle your spreadsheet, document, presentation and mail apps: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, Outlook and Mail. macOS asks app by app.
-
Documents
To save under Documents › Saelyx what it creates for you (sheets, documents, presentations and PDFs) and take from there what you attach to an email.
-
Location
Optional: only if you turn it on, as context for the conversation.
-
Local network
For the real-time voice connection. It doesn't access other devices on your network.
