System permissions¶
Saelyx asks for permissions one at a time, just when a feature needs them. The only essential one is the microphone; the rest are optional and you can withdraw them whenever you like. This page is the full list and what you lose without each one.
Note
The Mac app and the web account are still partly in Spanish. This guide names settings in English; if you see the Spanish original, it's the same setting.
Mac¶
| Permission | What it's for | When it's requested | Without it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microphone | Hearing you when you talk, dictate or are in a meeting | During the welcome | Saelyx can't hear you: no conversation, no dictation, no meetings |
| Accessibility | The π key or the dictation shortcut, typing where your cursor is, switching windows and driving apps such as Teams | During the welcome | The shortcut does nothing, it can't type into other apps and can't drive windows or Teams |
| Screen recording and system audio | Seeing your screen and, in a meeting, hearing the other participants | During the welcome, when you turn on "Let Saelyx see your screen" or when you use Meeting Mode | It can't see your screen; in meetings it only hears you through the microphone, and automatic meeting listening doesn't switch on |
| Camera | Seeing what you show it | When you turn the camera on | It can't see through the camera |
| Calendars | Reading your local calendar, read-only | When you tap Allow in Settings β Account β Calendars |
It doesn't read the Mac's calendar; Google or Outlook calendars you connect remain separate |
| Automation | Driving Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, Outlook and Mail | The first time you ask; macOS asks app by app | It can't open or write in those apps |
| Speech recognition | Transcribing on your Mac what you dictate with the π key (macOS 26 or later) and who is speaking in a meeting | The first time you dictate with the π key or when you use meetings | Dictation isn't done only on your Mac and the minutes can't tell participants apart; it's optional |
| Documents folder | Saving what it creates to Documents βΊ Saelyx and taking from there what it attaches to an email | The first time it creates a file | It can't save what it creates |
| Location | Using your exact location as context (nearby places, directions) | Only if you turn on "Use my exact location" | It doesn't use your exact location |
| Local network | The real-time voice connection; it doesn't access other devices on your network | On the first voice session | Denying it can prevent the voice connection |
| Notifications | Alerts and reminders | When you turn on "Show system notifications" | Alerts don't reach you as notifications |
Grant or withdraw them¶
- In macOS:
System Settings β Privacy & Securityand the permission you want. You can switch it on or off there. - From Saelyx:
Settings β Privacy β System permissionsshows the state of Microphone, Screen recording and Accessibility, with buttons to request them or open System Settings, and Check again. Saelyx checks them each time you open that tab and, if you already have them, doesn't ask again at launch.
Note
macOS only applies the screen recording permission after the app restarts. When it's missing, Settings β Screen offers a Restart Saelyx button.
If the π key doesn't respond¶
If the system uses that same key for its own dictation, set it to "Do Nothing" in System Settings β Keyboard β Press π key to. Under Settings β Privacy, the "How the π key works" section has an Open Keyboard Settings button. Without the Accessibility permission the shortcut does nothing: Settings β Shortcuts warns you and offers a button to grant it.
iPhone and iPad¶
| Permission | What it's for | Without it |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone (essential) | Listening to you and dictating or transcribing in real time | Saelyx can't hear you |
| Speech recognition | Understanding you; in Meeting Mode, transcribing on the phone itself what the microphone hears | It can't understand what you say |
| Camera | Seeing live what you point it at | It can't see through the camera |
| Calendars | Reading your local calendar, read-only | It doesn't read the iPhone's calendar |
| Photos (add only) | Saving to your camera roll the images you choose to export; it never reads your photo library | It can't save images to the camera roll |
| Notifications | Alerting you to reminders and proactive replies even if the app isn't open | No alerts reach you |
| Location | Exact location as context; optional | It doesn't use your exact location |
| Face ID | Confirming it's you before something that can't be undone | It can't ask you for that confirmation |
You grant or withdraw them under iPhone Settings β Saelyx. Inside the app, More β Settings β Permissions shows the state of the microphone, camera, photos, notifications and location (granted, denied, not requested or not available). Calendars show theirs under More β Your account β Calendars.
Apple Watch¶
The watch asks for the microphone and location (only while you use it, and only if you turn it on).
What Saelyx never does with them¶
- It doesn't create or modify events in your calendar: it only reads.
- Screen and camera aren't streamed as video; Saelyx reads the text on your device. While it does, an on-screen indicator is always visible and you can pause capture with
ββ§P. More in Privacy and your data.
