Privacy and your data

This page sums up, in plain language, what Saelyx does with your data and what controls you have. The full legal text, with retention periods, legal bases and providers, is in the privacy policy and the cookie policy; it isn't copied here.

Note

The Mac app and the web account are still partly in Spanish. This guide names settings in English; if you see the Spanish original, it's the same setting.

What stays on your device and what travels

Data What happens
Your screen and camera Not streamed as video. Saelyx reads the text on your own device and only that text travels
A photo you ask it to look at If you ask it to recognise something through the camera, or save a photo to visual memory, that image does leave your device and is kept in your account
Your voice in the conversation Processed in real time by an external voice provider; the detail is in the privacy policy
Dictation with the 🌐 key With macOS 26 or later it's transcribed on your Mac, with no network. On macOS 13 to 25 it also dictates, but the transcription is no longer local only
Who is speaking in a meeting Told apart with speech recognition on your own device
Odoo and Jira keys Stored encrypted on the server and never come back to the app

What travels is processed at the time and isn't kept to train models. Saelyx is an artificial intelligence: it can be wrong, so check what matters.

What it always confirms

Before sending, deleting, overwriting, publishing, running a command that has an effect or making a click that looks like a payment, Saelyx reads it to you and waits for your yes. Creating or editing isn't asked about every time. The setting is under Settings β†’ General β†’ Security β†’ Confirm Saelyx actions (on by default). More in Working in your Mac apps.

Controls you have

  • Capture indicator and record. Whenever Saelyx sees your screen there's an on-screen indicator. A local record keeps only when and for how long, never what it saw. Under Settings β†’ Privacy you can revoke the permission by type and Clear the record.
  • Instant pause. βŒ˜β‡§P pauses screen capture.
  • Local history. The session transcript lives only in memory while it lasts; you can clear it with Clear history now.
  • Faces. Face recognition is off by default and optional. Turning it off immediately deletes each face's photo, features and index.
  • Meetings. To record, Meeting Mode needs your consent (Settings β†’ Data and privacy β†’ Record and summarise meetings). If other people are in the meeting, telling them is up to you.
  • System permissions. You grant and withdraw them; see System permissions.

Where your data is stored

  • Memory, notes, files and knowledge base: in your account, following you across your devices. You manage them in each section; see Memory, knowledge and notes.
  • Minutes: a meeting's minutes are kept until you delete them or close your account; the raw transcript, 30 days.
  • Microsoft 365: if you connect it, you can leave a copy of the minutes in your OneDrive or SharePoint. Saelyx only writes to the folder you choose and doesn't store the content of your emails, events or chats. See Microsoft 365.
  • Share with Saelyx (Mac): what you share waits in a local mailbox in the app until it's processed; when you sign out, the mailbox is emptied.

Export and delete

What you want Where
Download your data Mac: Settings β†’ Data and privacy β†’ Export my data (a JSON with your profile and session history). Web: Account β†’ Data β†’ Download my data
A backup of your memories, notes and files Settings β†’ Backup (Mac) or Account β†’ Data (web); it's a .zip you can restore without deleting anything
Delete memory Memory β†’ Delete all memory
Delete what it has learnt to do Skills β†’ Delete all skills
Remove a device Web: Account β†’ Devices β†’ Revoke
Delete your account Settings β†’ Data and privacy β†’ Delete my account

Careful

Deleting your account is irreversible: it removes your profile, your sessions, your devices and your subscription. Export first whatever you want to keep.

To protect your account you can turn on two-step verification on the web, under Account β†’ Security. The emailed code stays the first step.

Quick questions

Does Saelyx always see me? No. It only sees your screen if you turn on "Let Saelyx see your screen", and while it does there's a visible indicator.

Does it read my email? Only when you ask: it drives your mail client (Outlook or Mail) on the Mac and sends only with your yes. With Microsoft 365 it doesn't read your email.

Can I use it without connecting anything? Yes. Odoo, Jira, the calendar and Microsoft 365 are optional and you can disconnect them whenever you like.

How do I ask about something I can't find here? Write to us at Support.
