Five colors, and not one more.
The orb breathing at the top of this page is not
an image. It is the same one that looks back at you from the Mac, from the iPhone and from the watch, painted
with these five exact values:
cyan
violet
magenta
amber
core
Those five belong to the
orb. The interface around it runs on something else: a single accent — the same blue the app uses — and a
green that shows up for one reason only, to tell you something went right. With one exception you can see from
here: the button at the top carries the orb's own gradient, because that is where we want the brand to land.
Every color has a job, and that is the only time one of them does another's.
In the code, right next to
those five values, there is a note we wrote for ourselves: do not invent shades. If the orb changes on
the Mac, it changes here the same day. Nobody would notice if the two stopped matching.
