Saelyx inside Google Workspace

Gmail, Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, Drive, Chat and Meet, connected block by block and in early access. Whatever leaves your account always waits for your yes.

A meeting ends and the work doesn't. Someone has to write the minutes, send them to whoever was there, note what each person promised and remember which folder it all ended up in. If your day lives in Google Workspace, that is spread across seven apps. With Microsoft 365 Saelyx already did that whole trip; from today it starts doing it with Google too.

01Early access, and why

This is not open to everyone. Google reviews every app that asks for permissions over someone else's mail, files or calendar, and Saelyx's is in that review. It could be opened sooner by cutting corners; I won't. A few people get in, by name, until Google completes the verification. The most sensitive permissions, reading mail and browsing all of Drive, also carry a security assessment before they open to the public.

02What each block does

Each permission is granted on its own: you connect Calendar without connecting Mail, and Google also lets you untick individual permissions when you authorize. Saelyx uses only the ones you grant. There are ten blocks, and this is what each service gets:

  • Calendar. Reads the events on your main calendar and, if you grant it, creates, moves or cancels them, with a Meet link and notifying the attendees.
  • Tasks. Lists, creates and completes tasks, and turns the action items of minutes into tasks.
  • Contacts. Looks up people's name, email, job title and company to fill in recipients and attendees; with an organization account, in its directory too.
  • Gmail. Two separate blocks. One drafts and sends from your account and reads nothing. The other searches and reads your mail, with Gmail's own search syntax, and replies inside the thread.
  • Drive. A “Saelyx” folder where it saves minutes and notes (notes as a Google Doc) and Google's picker to bring into Saelyx the files you choose. A separate block, full Drive, searches your whole Drive and watches files: they update when you press “Sync now” or ask by voice, never in the background.
  • Chat. Sees your spaces and posts in one, with your yes.
  • Meet. Finds your meetings and brings their transcript into Saelyx.

You ask by voice or in chat, and in “Connections” (at saelyx.ai/account, in the Mac Settings and on the iPhone) each block gets one line: what Saelyx can read, what it can do, whether it is connected, expired or waiting for your administrator, and a button to connect or disconnect.

03The minutes, from the meeting to where you need them

When a meeting closes, Saelyx can copy the minutes to your Drive as a Word document, without asking, if you saved your Google settings and granted the files block. You can turn it off whenever you like. The transcript, as text, ships switched off: it is copied only if you turn it on.

To send them, Saelyx finds the event in your calendar, suggests the attendees as recipients and shows you a preview with one sentence about what is going to happen. When you confirm, they go out through Gmail with the Word file attached. Or they go to a Chat space you choose, with the same confirmation step. The action items can go to Tasks.

04Chat and Meet need Workspace

Chat and Meet only work with a Google Workspace account; with a personal Gmail the other blocks do. And Meet only produces a transcript in the Workspace editions that include it, and when it is switched on. If there isn't one, there is nothing to import and Saelyx's own meeting transcript is what's left. Saelyx doesn't join your call: it reads the transcript once it exists. If your organization restricts third-party apps, its administrator may have to allow Saelyx first.

05What doesn't change

The promise is the same as with Microsoft 365: Saelyx reads what you connect and acts, and these five things hold:

  • Whatever leaves your account waits for your yes. Sending an email, creating, moving or cancelling an event, posting in Chat and sending the minutes. Reading, searching and creating tasks don't ask.
  • Draft first, and a yes counts once. Saelyx tells you to whom, what and when; the confirmation is single-use, expires, and never arrives in the same turn it was prepared.
  • If the network drops halfway through a send, it tells you it doesn't know whether it went out instead of repeating it.
  • You disconnect whenever you want, one block or everything. Removing a block doesn't revoke the permission in Google; “Disconnect Google” does.
  • It doesn't copy your mailbox. What it reads to answer you passes through the conversation and is kept only for the periods the privacy policy explains.

If your world is Microsoft, that is already in production: OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook and Teams, in the documentation. On a company account your administrator may have to approve the app, and there is a page written for them.

06How to ask for early access

Fill in the access request: your name, your email and, in the last field, what you want Saelyx for. Write there that you want Google Workspace and with which account, personal or Workspace, because whether Chat and Meet are useful to you depends on it. Like the other integrations, it is part of the Pro plan; pricing has the details.

07Frequently asked questions

Is it open to everyone?

No. The Google integrations are in early access while Google completes the app's verification. You ask for it with the access request, and it opens by invitation.

Does it work with a personal Gmail?

Calendar, tasks, contacts, mail and Drive are designed for personal and Workspace accounts. Chat and Meet, and your organization's directory, need a Google Workspace account.

Can Saelyx delete anything in my Google?

It has no permission to delete mail, and it neither touches nor deletes yours in Drive: it only creates, or replaces, the file with the same name that it created itself. The only thing that removes anything is cancelling an event, and that asks for your yes.

Invite-only access

Request your access.

If your day lives in Google Workspace, it may help to have Saelyx live there too. I read every request by hand and I write to you as soon as there is room for you.
